Overwhelmed to Ownership Challenge

Day 4: Ditch the paper

Have I mentioned I freaking hate paper yet?

I'm constantly pulling crumpled receipts out of the bottom of my purse, out from the zipper of my wallet where they get jammed, and from in between the seats in my car.

The South Florida heat has it so I can't even read the text on them anymore, and they are 400 feet long.  Seriously, what's up with that??

I can't stand paper - but it's important you keep receipts in case you ever get audited.  Hopefully you never do, but in the event you do, you def want to have your receipts.

DAY 4: DITCH THE PAPER, BUT KEEP THE RECEIPTS

My absolute favorite way to handle receipts in an organizedpaperless, and free way is to use Dropbox.

You can snap photos of paper receipts on your smartphone and use the scan feature to store it as a PDF that you can name.

You can save PDFs from your e-mail to Dropbox in the same folder.

You can "print" e-mail receipts from your phone right to Dropbox without touching your actual computer.

When creating any of these PDFs, change the name of the file using this naming convention: "YYYY-MM-DD PLACE OF PURCHASE $XX.XX".  For example, "2018-11-15 Office Depot $42.85.pdf".

This way it automatically sorts your receipts in order of the date, and you'll be able to see what you bought and how much it cost without even opening the file.  If you ever actually need to reference a receipt, it'll be insanely easy to find. #ProTip

YOUR DAY 4 HOMEWORK:

Part 1: How to start good habits immediately to stop the chaos in its tracks:

👉Download the Dropbox app and create your account now.

👉Make your first folder, name it "2018 Business Receipts".  Think ahead and create another for "2019 Business Receipts".

Part 2: What to do to clean up the mess you're sitting on:

If you haven't been keeping receipts, you can track down electronic ones as best you can and store them to Dropbox.

If the receipt is gone, there isn't much you can do other than be diligent about keeping them in the future.

YOUR ACTION STEPS TODAY:

  1. Hop on over to THE FACEBOOK GROUP and comment on today's post to let us know if you're already using Dropbox, if you've been keeping track of receipts before today, and if so... if it was electronically or by keeping the actual paper receipts. Use the hashtag #O2ODay4

  2. Catch the Facebook live replay below where I'll share my screen and walk you through how easy Dropbox is to use and why I love it so much. I also explain the purpose of receipts and why you want to keep them.
