A Refresh, A Recap, and a Reintroduction: Welcome to Profits & Prosecco Season 2!

for bookkeepers for business owners podcast Nov 11, 2025

Yes, you read that right—Profits & Prosecco is back, and it’s bringing a lot of new and exciting things with it…for example, a brand-new season!

We’re not picking up where we left off—we’re starting fresh. So whether you’re a long-time listener or you’re pressing play for the very first time, I’m so thrilled to welcome you to the next era of this podcast I’m so very proud of.

But first, just in case you haven’t “met” me before…let’s kick things off with a reintroduction to who I am and what I do.

Who I Am

If you’re new around here…hi! So nice to meet you. Allow me to introduce myself.

I’m Katie Ferro: stay-at-home mom of three, corporate escapee, and owner of a thriving bookkeeping business.

I grew up as a rule-following, status-quo kind of girl. I did well in school, I beelined straight to college, did the thing all math whiz kids get told they should do—major in accounting—and plunged headfirst into corporate life. By the age of twenty-nine, I was a tax manager for a multi-billion-dollar company…and pregnant with my first baby.

I always planned on being a mom and having a corporate career. But when it was actually looming on the horizon, it suddenly seemed less and less possible to balance both.

In the end, it was the hour-long commute that broke the camel’s back. I got in a car accident on my way to work when I was in my second trimester, and even though I wasn’t hurt, I found myself sobbing on the side of the road, questioning every plan I had for my life.

When I called my boss to let him know what happened, he told me to take a couple days off to recover and rest. And when I got back on Monday, I came back to the news that the company would be offering a voluntary separation package to anyone who had been with the company five years or more thanks to an upcoming sale.

I couldn’t think of a clearer sign than that. My history of rule-following and taking the safe route ended there—I took the package, and I never went back.

How was I able to leave corporate, become a stay-at-home single mom of three, and still live the life I wanted for myself and my family?

The short answer? A bookkeeping business.

The long answer? I realized that not only could a bookkeeping business be simple and scalable—it could also be passive if I built it correctly.

Over the next several years, I worked to build my bookkeeping business. I did all the things I’ll tell you not to do. I had some business-changing breakthroughs. I was blown away by what bookkeeping can do for you if you do it right…

And after a while, I figured out how to share that with others.

My Programs

You might be here because you’re a corporate accountant looking for a way out. You might be here because you already have a bookkeeping business, but don’t know how to scale it the way you want. You might even be here because you’ve got absolutely no bookkeeping experience, but you’ve heard about this career that offers a healthy income alongside time freedom, and you want to do whatever it takes to have that in your life.

No matter how you found me, the Profits + Prosecco podcast is made for you—and no matter what you need to make your dream bookkeeping business a reality, I have a program that can help you make it happen.

For Total Beginners

If you’re coming in with absolutely no bookkeeping experience, I highly recommend my program Become a Bookkeeper.

Affectionately nicknamed BABs, this program not only produces confident, skilled bookkeepers—no college degree required—it also just got one heck of a revamp.

The program as it was? Fantastic. I stand by that version 100%. But as I went through it recently, I found there were topics I could teach more clearly or efficiently than I previously had, or certain technology I taught on that had advanced or changed considerably in the years since I first created it. In the interest of staying current, I jumped back in and put myself to work.

The new version of BABs is up to date, contains some exciting new content, yet remains the same at its core. It is all about giving aspiring bookkeepers the knowledge, skills, and hands-on practice they need in order to not only do bookkeeping, but do bookkeeping well.

For Bookkeepers Missing Some Basics

If you’ve already been doing the work, but have noticed some gaps in your knowledge or skills that concern you, BABs is still the place for you to be.

I’m a firm believer that if you cannot rate your bookkeeping skills at least eight out of ten, you have no business being in business. When you’re working with people’s livelihoods the way we do, you cannot “wing it” or “fake it til you make it.” There are some industries where you can learn some of the basics as you go. Bookkeeping is not one of them.

If You Know Bookkeeping, But Not Business

If you’re a BABs graduate or a bookkeeper with solid confidence in your ability to do the work, but you need some guidance on building up the business side, then I made Life by the Books (LIBBY) for you!

Unlike BABs, LIBBY is less about actual bookkeeping skills and more about turning the skill you already possess into a profitable, passive source of income. I cover all the mistakes I made along the way (so you don’t have to make them!), the things I did right, and what I recommend to finally have a way to make money without spending every minute of your time behind a desk.

And No Matter Who You Are…

Whether you need the bookkeeping skills, the business savvy, or some of both, the Profits & Prosecco podcast has something for everyone.

If you’re a new listener, don’t panic—you don’t have to binge over 200 episodes of content before you start Season 2! Here’s what you’ll be getting out of Profits & Prosecco Season 2.

What to Expect from Profits + Prosecco Season 2

The podcast has been on a break for a few months now, and I found myself deeply missing it.  I knew that it was time to bring it back, but I also knew it needed a breath of fresh air.

The podcast is over five years old, and while there are plenty of episodes I’m still proud of (I have a great episode in Season 1 about perfectionism I stand behind fully), I also think I’ve had some perspective shifts considering other topics that would be valuable to share now.

In Season 2, I’m taking it back to basics. We’ll be treading familiar ground for some of you, but with some new ideas, new experiences, and likely some changes in opinion on my end. I’ve gained a lot of wisdom in five years, after all.

You can kick off your Profits & Prosecco journey now, no binging required—Episode 1 of the second season is already available! Scroll down to find the link to listen, and let’s start the second leg of this journey together.
