Top three skills to master bookkeeping.

Bookkeeping is a skill that you can learn relatively quickly. While you need to know a few areas, you don't need to know them completely. Those three areas are the basics of accounting, the basics of tax, and the basics of bookkeeping.

Accounting and tax are their own complications. Accounting can involve sales tax, inventory, cost accounting, depreciation of assets, etc. Tax on the other hand goes a lot deeper and I learned that through working at a CPA firm. Tax can be very complex but it also depends on how a business is set up.

While you don't need to be an accountant or tax expert to the depth of respective fields, you do need to be familiar with them and respect their complexities.

Now you're probably wondering, where do I learn these three skills quickly?

Gaining skills through my program Become a Bookkeeper

Become a Bookkeeper goes over the basics of accounting, tax, and bookkeeping all in one. It teaches you these concepts in three phases: Learn, Shadow, Apply.

This process really ensures that the knowledge has stuck to the point where you understand it and can apply it. You will be guided through an accounting textbook that focuses on service-based businesses and I will even recap the lessons and let you know how it applies to you.

BABs helps you understand the basics of accounting but through a lens on how it relates to you and your desire to start a bookkeeping business. I will also teach you the basics of tax for solopreneurs, meaning how they are taxed, the deductions they receive, how they work, and how your clients need to pay.

When it comes to the basics of bookkeeping, I will cover the ENTIRE bookkeeping process and the purpose behind it. I will provide you with the resources and checklists to make sure you know exactly how to make data flow efficiently and create a good system.

In this program, you get a workbook, checklists, flow charts, cheat sheets, readings, and guides that will all help you when you start taking on clients. If it isn't obvious by now, BABs can really put you on your path towards a successful bookkeeping business
