Why You are Entitled to More Freedom in Your Life (Even if You're Not a Mom!)

More freedom in your life

Today’s post is a bit of a mic drop moment. Here’s the message: you don’t need to be a mom to want more freedom in your life. It’s as simple as that! I want to take a moment to talk about this and to validate you if you’re not a parent but still strive for more freedom and balance in your life.

Everyone is Deserving of Freedom

Many of my listeners and readers are moms or want to be moms, and I’m aware of that. In truth, it makes sense because that’s how my life looks. I have built my business around the purpose of being present with my family. I talk about my kids and life as a working mom a lot because that’s kind of my thing, right?

But, you don’t need to have kids to have this be a priority. Everyone is deserving of the ability to have more life experiences with less stress. I really want to ensure that people know that and pursue the freedom they yearn for regardless of whether they’re a parent or aspiring parent or not.

Money As a Tool

I think it’s also important to note that money isn’t everything. It’s more of a tool that is used to do certain things, and it’s as powerful as we let it be in our lives. Accruing debt puts you at the mercy of money, and it’s something worth stressing about to a certain extent.

But that also goes to say that being responsible with money allows you to live a life where you operate with peace. It enables you to do the things you need to do - like put food on the table and pay to live - as well as things you want to do.

I want you to understand that it’s okay to earn a simple and scalable income with a lot of freedom in your life and schedule as someone who’s not a mom or parent.

Pursuing Your Business Dream

I have found that there’s this underlying need in our society to do things that are productive or that “count” for something. If we don’t, we worry about what other people will think of us.

But I’ve also noticed that as people prepare to become parents or have more kids, they start getting more creative with their time to make it all work together. But what if everyone - not just moms and parents - got more creative with the way they spend their time?

We only get to live this life once, and whether or not you have or want a family, that doesn’t change that fact. You can be any gender or have any family situation and still be deserving of the same freedom and peace as anyone else.

And I know when you set forth to build a business, it’s born of a dream. I was the same way and I want you to know that you can do the things you want. I used to dream of having beach days instead of being stuck in my corporate office.

For whatever you dream of - give yourself a taste of it, to whatever extent you can. Experiencing even a small sample of what you want will help motivate you further to work towards it being your norm.

You Don’t Need to Justify Your Desires: The Bottom Line

You don’t need to justify what you want out of life and your career. You are allowed to want to live and slow down and scale back and earn more just because you can.

You only have one life, so allow yourself to enjoy it now without any guilt.
